I have such a vivid memory associated with this song. It came out in 1992 and I was 9 years old and completely in love with my summer day camp counselor. We would go every day to a high school where they’d have games set up for us, lots of basketball tournaments and touch football, and things like Capture The Flag. I remember one day I twisted my ankle playing basketball (I was only there because this guy counselor was leading that activity; I’m actually quite terrible at basketball) and he carried me off the court and wrapped my ankle in an ace bandage. Then he sat there and played Connect Four with me until my mom came to pick me up. This song was playing on the radio and I was so smitten and so enjoying the one-on-one time with him, that I really thought he and I would get married and life happily ever after. Ahh, the outlandish expectations that come with a childhood crush.
